The New Orleans Sample Project

The New Orleans Sample Project seeks to preserve the soundscape of New Orleans. My main goal for the beginning of the project was to get impulse responses of historic spaces in the city.
I’ve watched the city change drastically in my lifetime and this is one of the ways for me to be nostalgic and record the sounds of my, and many others’, childhood.
I partnered with the Ellis Marsalis Center and Preservation Hall. With the Ellis Marsalis Center, I taught coding attempting to train the next generation to program the software that uses the impulse responses. With Preservation Hall, I recorded the space with impulse responses and made reverbs of the space.
